Rittal: Ordering an enclosure within minutes
With Rittal’s new Configuration System, compact and small enclosures can now be easily and quickly configured online with individual accessories.
With Rittal’s new Configuration System (www.rittal.de/configuration-system), compact and small enclosures can now be easily and quickly configured online with individual accessories. Customers can now choose the right accessories directly, without any need for a catalogue, then position them and prepare the enclosure for mechanical processing. Herborn/Hanover, 25 April 2016 – Ordering items with just a few clicks is something that has been around for quite a while in private online shopping – but not when it comes to ordering enclosures. “Instead of extensive digging through catalogues or waiting for offers, customers themselves can now use the new Rittal Configuration System on the Rittal website to independently construct compact enclosures and housings, with the appropriate equipment. In addition, they can select matching combinations from a stock of more than 250 accessories,” says Bernd Lehnert, Rittal’s Vice President Research and Development for Electronics and Software. “Customers gain precious time through this process and can see at a glance via the Rittal online shop the costs they will face when the items are ordered.”
“Intelligent” 3D model
When selecting accessories, the system displays only those components that are compatible with the product that has already been selected. Customers do not have to worry about having to deal with any unsuitable accessories.
The planning tool not only makes it simpler to select individual Rittal products; With the aid of a 3D model, the user can place the selected accessories at their specially designated places. This position is then reserved and cannot then be mistakenly used for other items. With the punch tool, customers can immediately and correctly assign such optional accessories as fan-and-filter units or connections at any part of the enclosure that is still unpopulated. This simplifies the time-consuming search for gaps, saving time and money.
Data supplied straightaway
The cut-outs and holes needed for the accessories are also taken into account during configuration. This is because the Rittal Configuration System also includes the mechanical processing, which can be displayed on the 3D model. This means it is no longer necessary to switch to alternative CAD programs when planning the enclosure.
Following selection, positioning and processing, the customer orders the enclosure via the Rittal Online Shop. Rittal then supplies its customers with either a ready-developed enclosure or the necessary components. If only the components are delivered, the configurator also provides the relevant CAD data, NC information and assembly instructions. What is more, customers will be able to transfer data from the Rittal System Configuration to EPLAN Pro Panel starting with the new release of the latter scheduled for autumn 2016. There, they form the foundation for the electromechanical design of the enclosure in 3D and the supply of comprehensive production documentation for the workshop. This helps customers install the individual items and avoid any unnecessary errors. The quality of the enclosure is thus greatly increased. © Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, April 2016
